Light from the nearest star makes the earth and its creatures visible, but sometimes, light itself becomes a palpable subject. Even though we understand the physics of light and of the solar system, we also hold to the ancient understanding of heaven and earth. We still refer to the heavens and to heavenly bodies. Certain slants of light allow us to see the our planet through Edenic eyes.
